Arthur Kerr Obituary January 31, 2026

Arthur Kerr, 93 years old from Orleans, Ontario, died peacefully of natural causes on January 31, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Arthur was a loving husband, dad, and friend who had an easygoing way about him and a warm personality that stuck with anyone who met him. He shared a happy marriage of 40 years with his wife Diane Kerr. Together they made a life full of companionship, laughter, and constant support. He is also fondly remembered by his son David Kerr (Jennifer Lesurf). He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Kerr; his mother Ellen Baker; and his sister Peggy Carruthers (Erwin Carruthers).

Over the years, Arthur built a strong career as well as rich personal relationships. Before retiring, he worked as General Manager at the Garden City Shopping Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His honesty and genuine care for people earned him great respect there. Outside work, he stayed active in the community-serving on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Argonauts Rowing Club and coaching hockey as a Level 4 certified coach where he mentored young players with patience and enthusiasm.

Arthur really enjoyed life and stayed positive through it all. Fishing and camping were some of his favorite ways to spend time outdoors. As a sports fan, he rarely missed cheering for the Toronto Argonauts or the Ottawa Senators. Golfing and curling were other activities he liked because they combined competition with social fun. When things got quiet, you’d often find him woodworking-making things carefully-or listening to Bob Marley’s music which he loved for its rhythm and message.

What made Arthur stand out was how friendly and approachable he was. He had this way of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable around him. His laugh was big and genuine; his stories were always interesting; being near him just lifted your mood. People enjoyed spending time with Arthur because he was fun-loving yet kind-hearted.

The impact Arthur had lives on through all those he encouraged with his steady leadership and sense of humor. He will be missed greatly but remembered fondly by all who knew him.
